Press Release: Harmony Heights Re-Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

*** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ***

Harmony Heights School to hold ribbon-cutting to celebrate restoration of building following fire

Harmony Heights School announces that it will be holding a Ribbon-Cutting celebration on Friday, November 8th, at 4pm at their school located at 60 Walnut Avenue, East Norwich, NY. The organization welcomes community members, the Chamber of Commerce, the Town Board, political leaders, and members of the media to join them in this celebration.

The Ribbon-Cutting will mark the nonprofit organization’s return to full operations following a devastating fire that affected almost half of the facility on May 15, 2023. While the classrooms and cafeteria were spared serious damage, the section housing administrative offices, counseling and therapeutic facilities, as well as the gymnasium and other services, incurred significant damage costing in excess of $3 million to restore.

Now, some 16 months after the fire, Harmony Heights is celebrating the building’s complete restoration, including a modernized facility and significant improvements to the building’s infrastructure and technology. With the passing of all the Building Department requirements to obtain their Certificate of Occupancy, the facility is now fully operational.

Harmony Heights is a New York State-accredited therapeutic day school for grades 8-12, providing no-cost programming to support the educational and emotional needs of girls diagnosed with emotional and learning issues. The organization is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and will be marking the milestone occasion with a fundraiser, details of which will be released in the near future.
